Byron Elementary School Faculty and Staff met Mr. Marckus Lawson who will serve as Assistant Principal of Discipline for the 2025-26 School Year.
Mr. Lawson has been an educator for the past decade, with half of that time spent in educational leadership roles. He began his career as a high school science teacher before transitioning into a coordinator role for the freshman academy. Mr. Lawson has served as an assistant principal at both the high school and elementary school levels. Mr. Lawson’s previous experiences were in the Worth County and Bibb County School Districts.
He has a B.S. in Biology, an M.S. in Biology with a concentration in Microbiology and Emerging Infectious Diseases, a Tier I Leadership Certification, an EdS in Educational Leadership/ Tier II Certification, and is currently in his last year of his EdD in Educational Leadership.
During his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and cooking. Mr. Lawson is excited to be joining Byron Elementary and the Peach County School System.

Peach County Achievement Academy Hosts 2nd Annual Career Day 2025
On Friday, April 11th, Peach County Achievement Academy (PCAA) proudly hosted its 2nd Annual Career Day 2025, bringing together a diverse group of professionals to inspire and educate students about various career paths. This year's event featured an impressive lineup of speakers representing a wide range of professions. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our classroom presenters: Glennice Dugger, Allstate Exclusive Agency Owner; Jeremy Bivens from Atrium Health; Lakeitha Gordon, Executive Director of Student Services at Central Georgia Technical College; Brandon William, CGTC Recruiter; Jesse Fortson from Unified Defense; Attorney Charles Jones; and Ambriel Hester, Social Media Influencer. In addition to the presentations, we were honored to have booth participants who showcased their fields and engaged with students. Our special thanks go to Heaven Whitby, FVSU Fab Lab & STEM Director; Marquita Ball, Respiratory Therapist; Shirlyn Granville, Fisk University Recruiter and Read Foundations Founder, and Petty Officer Franklin Nakadjah, Navy Recruiter. The event aimed to provide students with valuable insights into various career options and to encourage them to pursue their passions.
PCAA is committed to fostering an environment where students can explore different careers and connect with industry leaders. The principal, Mr. Rodney Hester, staff, and career day organizers, Mrs. Stephanie Johnson and Counselor Pamela Owens White, were very pleased with the engaging interaction and the successful completion of its 2nd Annual Career Day. We appreciate the support of our speakers and participants who made this event a success. Together, we are shaping the future of our students!

Kay Road Elementary School Science Olympiad Shines in First Competition!
Saturday, the KRES Science Olympiad team proudly represented Peach County as the only Science Olympiad team in the county! Competing at Perry High School against 13 other Middle Georgia schools, our students did an incredible job in their first-ever competition!

Registration for Peach County Pre-K will begin, Monday, February 24, 2025 and will end Friday, March 28, 2025.
There are 38 slots available at Byron Elementary. There are 20 slots available at Hunt Elementary School and 20 slots available at Kay Road Elementary School.
The slots will be filled using a lottery process. Completion of the registration process by March 28, 2025 does not guarantee your child a slot in a Pre-K class, but does guarantee that your child’s name will be entered in the lottery for a chance to earn a slot.
Parents will be notified by Friday, April 25, 2025.
